Come meet our newest Little Shop Witch Baby!
1. WHAT IS YOUR NAME & WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
My name is Fern and I am lucky to live on Vancouver Island, Canada.
2. WHAT DOES BEING A "WITCH" MEAN TO YOU?
The term "witch" intrigues me because of how misunderstood it is. I now know and have come to understand being a witch as having a profound connection to nature. It's a feeling of connectedness and really makes sense of a lot of characteristics I have found in myself. I have always been connected to animals, energy, and have now found an extraordinary love and appreciation of nature and our earth. I am intrigued by all things magickal and weird. Although I don't label myself or adhere to one particular religion, paganism/Wicca holds solid ground in the foundation of my beliefs.
3. HAVE YOU EVER HAD SOMEONE READ YOUR PALM?
I have had someone read my palm when I was having tea leaf reading, which was very cool. I am fascinated by all types of divination and those gifted souls who can provide insight and reflection on our lives.
4. WHAT ARE YOUR CURRENT FAVORITE RITUAL TOOLS?
Some of my favourite tools are candles, incense, and my tarot cards. I have been very into all sorts of cards recently actually. I have a crystal card deck and an angel card deck that I have been utilizing a lot lately. I would have to say my mind is my most powerful tool though, as I love meditation and journaling during my rituals.
5. WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE BIGGEST WITCH STEREOTYPE?
I think the biggest stereotype is that being a witch is associated with evil/the devil. I don't think a lot of people realize that there is a huge modern witch community either. I think they automatically associate it with being outdated.
6. WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE OUIJA BOARD?
To be honest with you, I have always been quite frightful of Ouija boards and thus have never touched one. But, this past fall I was on a ghost tour in Portland (I looove ghost tours, btw!) and the guide was telling us how misunderstood Ouija boards are. He was explaining that Hollywood has made people afraid of them through horror films etc and that people used to use them all the time to connect with loved ones and it wasn't as taboo. He even said there have been novels written through Ouija boards, which I find incredible. So I have changed my views on them, but I am still a little hesitant!
7. FAVORITE WITCHY MOVIE, GO!
I love The Craft! Iconic.
8. MUSIC IS A HUGE INSPIRATION FOR ME, WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY LISTENING TO?
CocoRosie has been a favourite of mine for a couple of years now. I adore their creativity and weirdness so much and listening to them always inspires me and makes me happy.
9. HAVE YOU EVER DONE A SPELL IN WHICH YOU REGRET?
No, I haven't. I think the only spells I would regret are those of which would bring harm to anyone/anything and I stay away from those.
10. WHAT IS YOUR SIGN?
I am a Gemini sun, Scorpio moon, Libra ascendant. And I love it.
11. CAN YOU REMEMBER YOUR FIRST CRYSTAL OR GEMSTONE?
I can't remember my very first stone, but it was probably a little amethyst or clear quartz. I know the first larger crystal I got was citrine - which is still one of my favourites!
12. DO YOU PRACTICE WITH TAROT CARDS? DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE DECK?
I do utilize tarot cards. The deck I have is called Green Witch Tarot, and it's all nature themed. It suits me perfectly. I'm still a novice in tarot but I do love it and I'm learning a lot as I go. I think we can gain some really good insights from readings and I love to incorporate it into my moon rituals or whenever I'm feeling a little lost.
13. WHERE IS THE MOST MAGICAL PLACE YOU'VE EVER BEEN?
I honestly think the most magical place I've been is my home, Vancouver Island. It's like a faeiry forest wonderland and I'm incredibly grateful to live here. I'm constantly discovering new hikes, waterfalls, and beaches. It's the perfect place to connect to nature and your higher self.
